Some good gestures

When Mahatma Gandhiji was imprisoned in South Africa, he made a beautiful mattress and presented it to the officer in charge of the prison. The officer was very much moved by the gesture as he thought that even when they had imprisoned him, how did he act so magnanimously by presenting him a gift. He safely preserved it in the showcase of his house.

The two persons to climb Mount Everest were Edmond Hillary and Tenzing Sherpa. Tenzing was Hillary's climbing Assistant. He had seen the enthusiasm in Tenzing twice before the actual expedition. Tenzing had accompanied two troupes earlier, one as a helper to carry the bags and another time as a guest climber. Hillary decided to take Tenzing along with him. Tenzing was the first to climb the peak. Edmond photographed Tenzing on the mountain peak, but did not photograph himself.
As a gratitude for the invaluable prize of the photograph and their friendship, Tenzing never revealed that he was the first to climb even when asked umpteen number of times.

Confidence series With willpower and willingness, you can overcome your shortcomings.

Robert Fawcett was best known for the series of illustrations he did for Sherlock Holmes, written by Conan Doyle's nephew Adrian Conan Doyle and John Dickson Carr. There were a dozen stories that appeared. The first ran in Good Housekeeping, and the other eleven were published in Collier's Magazine in l953. Looking at this series you can understand why Fawcett was considered one of the truly great illustrators.

one interesting incident in his life

"During one of his assignments. in his haste to get started, he overlooked the art director's written instructions that the illustration was to be reproduced in full color. Only after he had completed the entire rendering in black ink and had it in a mat and ready for sending did he discover the directive about color."

With his wife Agnes suggesting color (Fawcett himself was color-blind) RF quickly laid down a series of color washes over the illustration- less than an hour's work. After it was published in the Saturday Evening Post, the NY Society of Illustrators awarded it the gold medal for best color illustration of the year.

A person who had added colour to his paintings inspite of being colour blind (unable to distinguish between colours) himself.

NASA Wednesday unveiled its design for a one-person aircraft that would take off vertically, hover, and then cruise horizontally, U.S. officials said.

The nearly silent 12-foot-tall Puffin would stand on end like a space ship, lift off vertically and then cruise horizontally with the pilot lying prone as if in a glider, NASA said in a release.

The twin-engine Puffin was designed by Mark Moore, an aerospace engineer at NASA's Langley Research Center in Hampton, Va. The Puffin was designed with the help of engineers at the Massachusetts and Georgia institutes of technology and the National Institute of Aerospace.

Moore and his team were to discuss the Puffin's design Wednesday in San Francisco at a meeting of the American Helicopter Society.

The pilot would stand in the aircraft and lie flat in a fashion similar to a hang glider pilot when the craft is in horizontal flight. Each rotor of the aircraft is 2.3 meters wide and the craft measures 3.7 meters long and has a 4.1-meter wingspan. The aircraft is constructed of carbon-fiber composites and weighs only 400 lbs including the rechargeable battery pack.

Be there when you are needed most

During one of the border wars between two countries, some soldiers who marched ahead to fight were shot by the enemy. The General and some other soldiers were on the other side witnessing the scene. One of the soldiers wanted to bring his wounded friend who was among the soldiers shot by the enemy. When he approached the General, he said, "he is very badly wounded and will not survive. By going there, you will not be of any help to him, and you will also be risking your life. But the soldier insisted that he should go and hence the General permitted him. The soldier went to the scene, and also suffered some injuries by the enemy attack, but succeeded in locating and bringing his friend back. When he laid his friend on the floor, he was already dead. The General said, " I told you your going there is not going to help him, now you have injured yourself" The soldier replied, " Sir, it helped, he was alive when I took him, and spoke his last words, "I know you will come!".

hi bloggers

hi bloggers, and my recent visitors, good day to you all.

Grazie to the visitor from Italy.

guess who

On the other side of the railway crossing, were those gardens filled with beautiful rose plants with rich blossomed roses. A mother and her five year old daughter were plucking the roses and filling their baskets when the gardener, a tall , hefty and gigantic person saw them. He immediately shouted " Who is that plucking all the roses? I will throw you both in boiling water". Shouting he came in their direction. The girl was horrified by the look, voice and the words. She had nightmares thereafter so many days, of the hefty gardener, boiling water and herself caught.
The same girl who was horrified has shared her 77 crime and detective stories with the whole world. Can you guess the person, if not, come to the end of this blog to see her photograph,

GIFTS AND ACKNOWLEDGEMENTS

A gift is something which is given to us by somebody and for which we
do not have to pay. There are different types of gifts, starting from gifts
from near and dear ones to those from friends, acquaintances, business
gifts , regular gifts (whether it can be called a gift?) to those from
unexpected persons, freebies and so on.

Are all gifts the same? Are they treated alike? Some gifts like freebies
will be immediately used or discarded. regular gifts like diaries or pens
will be utilized and business gifts will be exchanged or preserved for some
purpose.

Coming to personal gifts from near and dear ones, they are to be cherished
and kept for a longer time as it increases the bonding betweent the
two people.

How to select a good gift?

A gift to be given should be nice, affordable, and useful to the person
to whom it is given.

A gift for a child may be something which it can use immediately as they
are very eager to open the wrapper and use it. So while selecting a gift
for a child, give it some thing like a toy, or a dress or something to munch
like a chocolate bar or cookies.

Gifts to teens or youth should be trendy which may range from latest gadgets
to games, books, (of course not academic), trendy wallets, bags and the like.
while selecting, keep in mind their tastes and preferences if you know them well.

Gifts to someone close to you may be a card, ring, jewellery to car, flat etc.

Gifts to people older to you must be something which shows your regard to
them like music cds, good books or other things which they may put to use

Sometimes you give gifts to people whom you have not met or whom you have
heard about but have not seen. Make sure that the gift you give will be liked
by the person from what you know about them.

Acknowledgement:

A gift should be acknowledged immediately. Some open the wrapper immediately and
show their happiness on seeing the gift. It is also a custom in some countries that
the gift should be opened immediately. In some places, it will be handed over and
it has to be opened later. Depending upon the customs, the gift should be acknowledged
It can be acknowledged by a phone call to the presenter, by personally telling him/her,
by reciprocating with a similar gift.

One particular acknowledgement is worth mentioning here. I had given a small gift
which is a showpiece with a musical key to the daughter of a most regarded person.
She acknowledged immediately on receiving the same. What was more surprising was
that they had incorporated the music as their mobile ring tone. I was really moved by
the gesture. What a nice way of acknowledging!

GIVING BACK WHAT IS NOT YOURS

Giving back what is not yours is as pleasurable as giving
others what is yours.

Yesterday, I had been to a textile shop to buy a dress to be gifted.
I selected the dress, paid the bill and they handed over the gift in
a plastic bag and I proceeded to my house. On the way, I had to
do some other shopping and after finishing that I went home. As
soon as I entered I opened the bag to show the gift to my children.
I found the gift packet, and found another expensive dress along
with that. The dress would have fitted me well, but I had not paid
for it. Immediately, it occurred to me that somebody else would
have paid for the dress, but the package was wrongly handed over
to me. In my urgency, I had not checked the contents. I just
imagined the plight of the salesgirl who had handed it over to me
if she would be asked to pay the price of the dress or to quit.
I wanted to give back the dress but the shop was away from home.
Immediately I tried to call up the shop. Luckily they picked up and
they were actually searching for the dress when I called. The girl
on the other side profusely thanked me and said that she would send
somebody to collect the same. The manager himself came to
collect the dress and he was very much relieved. Actually it was
selected by a customer and they had gone to another floor to
buy some more dresses. He thanked me and left.

Had I retained the dress as a gift which has come to me, as it
was not intentionally taken by me, and no one had even noticed
that it was with me, I would not have felt much happier than to see
the relief on the face of the manager. I thanked God
to have driven me to immediately act and save the situation.

Todays news
SILICON BRAIN BY 2018

A more intelligent artificial mind is in the offing , as a Swiss team is working on it.
This mind will also be sentimental and have feelings. The mind will be able to
think, reason, express will, lay down memories and perhaps even experience
love, anger, pain, sadness and joy according to scientists.

A brave heart:

Shyam was a very good student of mine. He was very attentive, absorbing and well behaved.
What was very painful to me about Shyam was that he could not walk without the help of a
walker. Not that Shyam was born like that. Six years back, shyam was one of those
happy-go-lucky guys who was an all rounder in the college. He was the only son to his parents
Once out of college, he decided his career. He got a job of his choice. He was happy and planned.
He had targets fixed for himself for various achievements. Then, one fateful morning, while he was
riding his bike, a car came very fast to his right, without giving a signal turned to its left,
The car not only hit Shyam, but also rolled over his legs. At that one moment, all his dreams were
shattered. Both his legs were crushed. The doctors had to amputate one leg. During all this
trauma, he kept his cool. The Doctors even suspected his survival due to heavy blood loss,
He was brave. He had only one request to the Doctor, to leave his other leg intact. Though
He could not fold it or use it as his knee cap and ankle bones were lost, He was determined
to overcome it. He consoled his mother, said that he can still pursue his goals and achieve
it. What a brave heart. He uses an artificial limb, and a walker but walks tall as he has
got the courage and confidence. I am sure he will definitely pursue his goal.

I am sharing this information just to appeal to all drivers,

when you are rash driving or negligent, you not only put an end to the life of a third person,
you also block their aims, ambitions, future and above all happiness, in case they survive,
If you are good at heart, you will also suffer the guilt of hurting someone.

Think of this before you get behind the wheels.

Thank you shyam, for sharing your information.
